Before Whitecoft disappears from view we’ll explore the poem of the same name written by the ‘Forest Poet’ F W Harvey. Will Harvey had a great view over Whitecroft from his home at the crest of the hill in Yorkley on the other side of this valley. He was connected with the once well-known Whitecroft Male Voice Choir and wrote a poem to honour the choir. In the poem he compares the apparent permenance of buildings constructed with stone and glass with that of the music and song.

Will Harvey as he was known, presided over concerts by the choir in the beautiful setting of Devil’s Chapel just over the hill on this side of the valley.
